Rick J. DelantyRick J. Delanty has been painting and drawing the California coast for thirty five years, the span of time that he has resided in the “Spanish Village by the Sea” of San Clemente. Expressive, bold brushwork and direct application of color characterize his acrylic sea and landscapes. The artist has devoted himself to the creation of a varied portfolio of originals featuring coastal and wilderness sites. Delanty’s appreciation of the California coast is due to the fact that water sports have always been a part of Rick’s life, as a lifeguard, recreational swimmer, and two-time participant in the International Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii. Rick has twice been invited to the Laguna Beach Plein Air Invitational, a select group of 50 artists whose work shows in the Laguna Art Museum. He has been a juried artist in “Coastal Splendor”, a plein air invitational benefitting Crystal Cove State Park. Delanty’s work has been represented at the Laguna Festival of the Arts, has twice won the San Clemente Plein Air competition and was awarded Best of Show at the Borrego Springs Plein Air Invitational. Rick’s reproductions have been nationally distributed by Greg Young Publishing. His work is represented in galleries in Puerto Vallarta and Santa Barbara, as well as at his home/studio gallery in San Clemente, CA. Rick is a member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA), Christains in the Visual Arts (CIVA), American Impressionists Society and the California Art Club. He has also been an arts educator for 32 years, served as juror, demonstrator and exhibition coordinator.
